About Us

We are a private school and learning center. We currently offer tutoring, homework help, and private school (blended groups). We learn through nature, agriculture and a rigorous academic curriculum. We have a strong balance in nature & homesteading, academic, and social-emotional learning. Students enrolled at Fern Creek Academy will experience outdoor classrooms, rich academic instruction, and the ability to harvest their own skills in a healthy environment.

 Our Program Mission

Our program at Fern Creek Academy has a deep-rooted focus on nature, homesteading, student interest, and meeting the needs of all students. We follow the systematic approach of Professional Learning Communities and the influential approaches from Dr, Greenspan, Richard Defour, Abraham Maslow, and John Hattie. We ensure all state standards are met.  We offer a balance of rich academic curriculum, outdoor learning opportunities, and effective social-emotional nurturing woven into everyday learning.

Children are encouraged to actively participate in their own daily educational development. Fern Creek Academy provides these opportunities to children through project-based learning, outdoor classrooms, small group instruction, explicit phonics instruction, engaging centers, and natural exploration.

Every part of the day is planned and structured to meet the needs of every child. We strive to cultivate the interests and strengths of each child. Through daily exploration, together we will harvest the learning of children.

About the Fern Creek Academy Director

Fern Creek Academy was originally opened when a few kids with neurodivergent tendencies had no place to learn and a baby goat named Jax. It was named Fern Creek Academy after the director's grandmother and the well rooted history in the area. The director and founder of Fern Creek Academy strongly believes that all children have skills to harvest. It may be in different areas, but they deserve to be in an environment that helps them cultivate their own harvest.
